Why is Dr. Lampreht the best choice for researching your family tree?
Researching family history is far more than simply searching for names and dates. It is a demanding historical research process in which information from various archives, civil registers, church records, land registers, urbars, military records, censuses, probate records and numerous other historical sources must be brought together and cross-referenced.
This requires specialist knowledge, experience, familiarity with archives and historical contexts, the ability to read old scripts and languages, and, above all, the careful verification and accurate linking of the information found.
Dr. Lampreht combines precisely these skills – in-depth historical expertise, decades of experience and a comprehensive approach to researching family history.
- PhD in History
Dr. Lampreht holds a PhD in History. Family research is therefore based on sound historical research methods rather than simply searching for data in online family trees.
In genealogical research, it is equally important to understand the historical background of the relevant period, administrative changes, changes in borders, different spellings of first and family names, as well as the historical circumstances in which the respective documents were created.
- Decades of experience in genealogical research
Dr. Lampreht has been researching family histories, family trees, surnames and historical sources for decades.
This many years of experience enables a more efficient search for sources, the identification of different spellings of personal and family names, and an understanding of the connections between individual historical documents.
Particularly in more complex research projects, the combination of experience and specialist knowledge is often crucial for uncovering information that may remain hidden during superficial research.
- Research based on verifiable historical sources
The aim of the research is not to create the longest possible family tree, but to reliably reconstruct the history of a family.
The information is therefore verified using different sources. Possible contradictions, different spellings of names and surnames, and the historical circumstances of the time are also taken into account.
Whenever possible, original documents are obtained or reproductions are made. These provide important evidence and are also valuable keepsakes for future generations.

- Comprehensive research – from initial data to a family chronicle
One of the distinctive features of Dr. Lampreht’s approach is that the research is not limited solely to creating a family tree.
The research may include:
- collecting and verifying the initial data;
- researching ancestors through different family lines;
- searching for information in archives, civil registers, church records and other historical sources;
- researching the origin and development of a family name;
- researching the places where ancestors lived;
- determining the occupations, social status and living conditions of ancestors;
- researching relocations and migrations of individual branches of the family;
- searching for information about military service, property, marriages, births, deaths and other significant events;
- analysing and transcribing old documents;
- translating historical documents;
- obtaining reproductions or copies of important original documents;
- bringing individual branches of the family together into a comprehensive family history;
- creating a comprehensive family chronicle or family book;
- creating a graphic representation of the family tree.
The end result is therefore not merely a list of names, but a comprehensive history of the family spanning several generations.
Lampreht takes genealogical research to a higher scientific level.

- Researching as far back as the sources allow
Research can be extended back through numerous generations, always taking into account the actual availability and state of preservation of historical sources.
For some families, it is possible to trace ancestors back several centuries. For others, the possibilities are more limited due to missing or destroyed records.
What is important is that the research does not stop at the first source that is found. Instead, it is examined whether older or additional sources exist that may reveal further details about the family’s history.
- Knowledge of old documents, scripts and historical records
When researching older generations, researchers frequently encounter documents written in different languages and scripts.
Old church records and other historical documents may, for example, be written in Latin, Old German or other languages, as well as in historical scripts that are difficult to read today.
Dr. Lampreht provides transcription and translation services for old documents. These services are available to private individuals as well as various institutions.
This represents an important advantage for research projects in which crucial information is hidden in difficult-to-read historical sources.

- Research tailored to each individual family
Every family has its own unique history. Genealogical research therefore cannot always be carried out according to the same standard procedure.
For some clients, researching the paternal line is the main focus; for others, the goal is to investigate all branches of the family. Some are particularly interested in the origin of their surname, while others want to learn more about the lives of their ancestors or the historical context in which their family lived.
The research is therefore individually tailored to the client’s wishes and to the historical sources available.

- From research to a family book
One of the particular benefits of comprehensive genealogical research is the possibility of creating a family chronicle or family book in which the research findings and stories of individual generations are brought together.
Such a book may include:
- the family tree;
- biographical information about ancestors;
- the history of the places where the family lived;
- photographs;
- historical maps;
- reproductions of old documents;
- explanations of the origin and development of family names;
- as well as other interesting information about the family.
The finished work thus becomes a permanent family document and a valuable keepsake that can be preserved for future generations.

- Lectures and professional activities
Dr. Lampreht also shares his knowledge and many years of experience with others.
He regularly gives lectures on creating family trees, genealogical research, ancestry research and the study of family names, both in Slovenia and Austria.
The lectures are aimed at private individuals, associations, institutions and anyone interested in researching their own family roots.

- References and professional recognition
Decades of professional activity are documented by numerous references, including academic publications, media appearances, professional collaborations, recommendations and feedback from satisfied clients.
When choosing a researcher for your family history, it is important to consider not only the completed family tree, but also the researcher’s experience, methodology and ability to provide transparent documentation of the research findings.

- Creating large and impressive family trees
The results of the research can also be presented as a large graphic family tree.
Dr. Lampreht created the largest printed family tree, covering an area of approximately five square metres. This is an extraordinary example of how an extensive family history can be presented in a single visual representation.
Such a family tree can become a central family document that can be displayed and preserved as part of the family’s heritage.

Everything from a single source
The major advantage of a comprehensive service is that clients do not need to find several different specialists for the individual aspects of the research.
From the initial search for data and archival research, through the transcription and translation of old documents, obtaining reproductions, researching the family’s history, creating a family chronicle, and finally designing a large family tree – everything can be combined into one coherent research project.
The end result is therefore not simply a family tree.
It is the story of your family – supported by historical sources, documents and verifiable data.
